TO: Parent Education Network Members and Supporters:
SUBJECT: Annual General Meeting Slate of Directors
As a registered charitable organization offering parent education courses and workshops in Toronto since 1974, we are at a critical point in our history. In order to continue building our programs and offerings we are required to have up to nine members on the Board of Directors.
We need Board members with ideas for marketing and fundraising, or with writing skills. We need members willing to oversee financial decisions and fiscal responsibility. We particularly need a volunteer to take over the position of Treasurer. Demand for our courses has increased in the past year and we need energetic and creative people to help provide service to a greater number of parents and child caregivers.
The role of a Board member is to assist in the direction of the organization and to advise and support the staff in following Parent Education Network’s mission and goals. The Board meets once a month on a week-night from 7:30-9:30 p.m. and these meetings are mandatory. Work on other committees is voluntary.
Our course leaders meet three times a year for Professional Development sessions and Board members are invited to attend if they wish.
Jean Vanier in “Images of Love, Words of Hope” wrote:
“We don’t have to do big things.
We don’t have to be heroes.
We are just called to be ourselves and to do little things of love.”
If you have received benefits from the services of Parent Education Network and care to help continue its service to parents, please consider volunteering your expertise on our Board. We are also in need of an experienced Treasurer (for information on this position, click here). Further information can be obtained from our Nominating Committee Chairman, Katy Anderson at 416-240-0245 or [email protected].
Thank you for your support in the past and we look forward to your continued support. We have always found that your “word-of-mouth” is our most successful marketing method. You, our members, have always been most instrumental in our success during the past 40 years.
